INTERNATIONAL STUDENT CONFERENCE AS A MEANS OF DEVELOPING ACADEMIC COMMUNICATION SKILLS

The study highlights 20-year experience of organizing international student conferences in foreign languages as a framework for holistic development academic communication skills. Conventional ESP syllabi suggest passive learning strategies, which replicate those general English courses. Students are offered pedagogic materials aim at reiterating the knowledge that instructors and textbooks provide. However, there exists substantial gap between reproducing becoming an independent actor selected field expertise. In this sense it seems crucial to outline active budding professionals achieve autonomy reasonable pace. To reach objective, we have been conference LSP students RUDN university, is not standalone event, but part curriculum. Conference preparations designed multiple interventions aimed developing linguistic extra skills alike. course on preparation line with major subjects overall competence participants. Every year Bachelor’s write present research paper, starts teamwork synopsis studies given topic eventually results successful defense thesis language student’s choice.
